Safety Valet Program

San Jose operates two safety valet lanes in the mornings.  One is in on Clymer Street, in front of the school and the other is on San Jose Street at Gate 4.

To help the flow of traffic run smoothly,

• Please drive to the end of the lane
• Make sure your children are ready to exit the vehicle when you stop the car. 
• Follow the directions of the Safety Valet staff.

Traffic Safety

Morning and afternoon congestion is a serious concern around the school.  Please keep the following in mind when dropping off or picking up your child.

• Drive clockwise around the school so that you child enters/exits the car on the school side of the street.
• Please do not drive through or park in the staff parking lot or block the entrance or exit when dropping off or picking up students.- it's too dangerous!!
• Do not encourage students to jaywalk or go into the street to enter double parked vehicles.
• Please SLOW DOWN and obey all traffic laws.

Closed Campus Policy

For the safety of our students, San Jose maintains a locked campus during instructional time and for a portion of after school hours. 

Campus access is as follows:

7:30 a.m. Gate 1 opens  for students 

7:40 a.m. Gate 4 opens  for students

7:40 a.m.  Auditorium opens for ETK, TK and kindergarteners only                         

2:29 p.m. (1:29 Tuesdays) Gate 4 is open for 15 minutes  Gate 1 opens for 30 minutes

3:00 - 4:30 p.m. the only access to campus is through the main office.

4:30 p.m. The blue gate by the auditorium opens for after school program pick up.

Safe School Plan

Our Safety Committee will be meeting in the fall to review and revise our school's Safe School plan. Parents and community members are encouraged to give suggestions for improving school safety.
