English Language Development

ELD Instruction

Students who are identified as English Learners are clustered together so they receive daily instruction in English Language Development that is separate from but complementary to English-Language Arts instruction. English Language Development  lessons are designed to accelerate English language learning: listening, speaking, reading, and writing with robust and contextualized instruction so that students meet the ELD standards and make adequate yearly progress toward reclassification as fluent English speakers.

In addition, teachers use strategies that are specially designed to help English Learners have access to the core curriculum across the content areas.
